The Harvest Equity Initiative exists to expand access to agricultural opportunity by providing resources, funding, and infrastructure support to minority, beginning, and underserved farmers. Through strategic partnerships and community investment, the initiative works to strengthen local food systems, promote sustainable agriculture, and empower farmers to build economically resilient operations that benefit future generations.


The program prioritizes support for:

• Minority farmers

• Beginning farmers

• First-generation farmers

• Small family farms

• Urban agriculture programs

Section 13 – Farmer Readiness Assessment


The Farmer Readiness Assessment helps the Harvest Equity Initiative review committee evaluate whether applicants have the operational capacity to effectively utilize grant funding.

Applicants should answer the following questions honestly and thoroughly.

Farming Infrastructure

Do you currently have the basic infrastructure necessary to operate your farm? Select all that apply.

How many hours per week do you currently dedicate to farming activities?
Do you currently employ or plan to employ additional workers?

Agricultural Impact Metrics


The Harvest Equity Initiative tracks measurable outcomes to ensure that grant funding produces meaningful agricultural and community impact.

Applicants should estimate the following outcomes as a result of receiving grant funding.


Production Impact

Estimated increase in crop or livestock production after receiving the grant.

Section 15 – Grant Compliance Agreement

All recipients of the Harvest Equity Initiative Grant must agree to comply with program guidelines and reporting requirements.

By signing below, the applicant agrees to the following conditions.

Use of Funds

Grant funds must be used solely for the agricultural purposes outlined in the approved application.

Funds may not be used for personal expenses unrelated to farming operations.

Documentation Requirements

Grant recipients agree to maintain documentation of how funds are used, including receipts, invoices, or purchase records.

Recipients may be required to submit these records upon request.

Program Reporting

Recipients agree to provide progress updates regarding their farm operations and the impact of the grant.

Reporting may include:

• short progress reports

• farm photos

• updates on production outcomes

Site Visits (if applicable)

The Harvest Equity Initiative reserves the right to conduct site visits or request documentation verifying farm operations.

Misuse of Funds

If grant funds are misused or used for purposes outside the approved application, the Harvest Equity Initiative reserves the right to request repayment of funds.
